A huge preponderance is straight, a significantly small minority is gay. And gayness is non functional, as far as propogation of the species. Impotency would be just as abnormal. The same can be said of audiophilia. You aren't going to get rid of your tubes and Vandersteens are you? You aren't against sterile heterosexual marriages are you?

Answer:
Neither of the 2 major professions, clinical psychology and psychiatry, involved in the treatment of various sexual disorders consider homosexual behavior to be abnormal and/or a sexual disorder. For that reason and others, the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual - IV- TR (DSM-IV-TR) of the American Psychiatrric Association, the generally accepted reference for diagnoses, does not list this form of sexual behavior between consenting adults as part of its diagnostic categories. OTOH, conditions such as pedophilia, male erectile disorder, and many other sexual disorders are listed. It is also worth noting that in textbooks dealing with abnormal psychology, behavior between consenting adults of the same sex, is not covered at all, since there is no reason to consider it a form of abnormal behavior. Finally, it is the official position of both the American Psychiatric Association and the American Psychological Association that homosexual orientation and/or behavior is not a form of mental illness, nor is it a form of abnormal behavior. For an interesting summation of the postion of the American Psychological Association, which I fully endorse and support, see the following link: http://www.soulforce.org/main/psychological.shtml
