My urologist prescribed Muse for me to use to recover erectile function.

Question:
My urologist prescribed Muse for me to use to recover erectile function. I had my LRP in November, four months ago. He gave me the script about a month ago, but it has taken awhile to get my insurance to cover it. Well, I finally got it yesterday.... and tried it right away. Well, talk about painful!! :(( I also tried an injection of Caverject several weeks ago, and I had the same aching pain. If I had gotten an erection, I would not have been interested in anything sexual.... as there was just too much pain. Anyone else had experience with these?? Does Muse work for anyone here? I understand that this aching pain is caused by the alprostadil, and that I am just one of those people who cannot tolerate it. Anyone here use Papaverine injections? Bi-mix injections? With what success?

Answer:
I didn't like Muse. Not because of the pain, which was tolerable, but because of the insertion, which I found very unpleasant. Also, the erection produced was not effective. Two notes: 1. I tolerated the catheter VERY poorly. I cannot stand things in my urethra! 2. I believe I have significant venous leakage, so even if the Muse worked to relax the capillaries in the corpora cavernosa, the venous leakage did now allow for a sustained or effective erection. Lately I have tried prostaglandin injections, resulting in partial erections. I have found that constriction rings help this, and I am now trying to find the proper balance between Viagra or injections, and light constriction rings. Adequate stimulation is of course necessary as well. I have orderd a couple of the "recreational" rings to see if they help. The "medical" rings are very tight, not adjustable, and probably not necessary as an adjunct
